SiXDAYSOBER were formed early 2004 by multi-instrumentalist
Daniel Law and drummer Andrew Price in a response to their dismay
at the then stagnating indie/punk dominated Birmingham music scene.
Looking to create music that could not be confined to one genre and while maintaining a strong sense of melody, they pushed the technical boundaries of their abilities and the music to create a hybrid prog-rock/metal sound that they enjoyed playing and would later form a distinct sound to be enjoyed by all. Soon to be joined by bassist James Rogers the Trio rented space beneath a Birmingham studio to perfect their now signature sound. It was
during this time that the band adopted the now well known moniker
SiXDAYSOBER; Stemming from the battles with heavy drinking that
both the founding members had fought through to face their personal
demons. It is also a reference to the second major milestone that alcoholics go through, on reaching a week sober, as they feel that they have now kicked the habit and often descend back down the spiral. |
